Hello all,
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am informing you of Ian's passing on Sunday.
We have been told that there will be a death notice and funeral information posted on the 3rd of March in the Herald-Sun. It is proposed that the funeral will take place this Friday 5th March at approximately 2pm (please check the Notice for clarification) at Tobin Brothers 9306 7211 in Glenroy.
Ian initially played competition and Coached at Coburg, moving on to Keon Park then finally Epping Squash Club. In all Clubs he was attached to, he accumulated friends many of whom have remained lifetime mates throughout. A considerable group of current and past squash players owe their start and continuing love for our sport because of Ian and his ability to impart and share his skills instilling in many a strong set of values relating to excellent sportsmanship, hard work and positive relationships. A wonderful role model for many especially Juniors!
Always an optimist and with a belief that complex medical issues could mostly be solved through medical interventions and personal understanding, Ian fought hard to ensure that these personal beliefs ensured a good outcome. Sadly it was not to be and we have all lost on Sunday one of life's gentlemen - always keen for a chat, a discussion, helpful advice and help and the inevitable plate of fruit for Supper.
We shall all miss him by the gap that he has left physically in our lives but it is important to remember that hole has been filled to overflowing with his modelled legacies he has left for us all - his kindness of spirit, his optimism, his positive work ethic, his moving forward enthusiastically to bite at the world and to always be utterly and absolutely respectful to all no matter the circumstances.
Our condolences are sent to Ann and Ian's family - children and grandchildren. Our best wishes go to all.
Ann, his wife, has requested that if you intend to attend the funeral, could you please give her a ring on 9309 6276 by Wednesday evening for catering purposes.
Yours Faithfully,
Lynne Spark
