The NWSL competition was a VERY large competition back in 1985. There were a number of competitions: Mens midweek, Womens midweek, Sunday mixed, Masters ( must have been a fairly new addition ), Mens Friday, & Friday Womens. Check out the pictures provided by Garry Gilbertson from Essendon Squash.... thanks Garry! Mostly 10 grade teams . Count the number of grades , 10 teams per grade , multiply by players , ( assuming at least four players per team ). So by my very rough estimate assuming only four players per team , and factoring that some players play more than one comp , I estimate that the player pool was upwards of 3,000. Yes Sunday mixed was a new experience to play with the opposite sex . Previously, men only played against men, ditto for women .

RENT–A–REF Email: referee@squashvic.com.au How would you like to have a qualified referee officiating for your night of squash? Its easy…. For a small fee you can have an easy relaxing night at squash. When using the RENT–A–REF service your team must still supply a marker to assist for $90, otherwise with no markers provided the cost is $180. Rent–A–REF is also a great way to learn the correct rules of squash by observing the referee and gives the opportunity to ask questions. For more information or to book a referee please contact referee@squashvic.com.au Please remember that if you try to contact a referee directly and you do not go through the above email, we cannot guarantee that a referee will be provided for you.
